Q11: Is the WINGS Scholarship treated as non-taxable income?
A11: The WINGS Scholarship is classified as “miscellaneous income” under the Income Tax Act and is therefore taxable. A payment certificate will be issued between late January and early February. Please file your tax return at the tax office that has jurisdiction over your place of residence.
For this scholarship, the taxable amount is the total WINGS Scholarship you received during the calendar year (January–December), minus necessary expenses such as tuition fees or other research-related costs (e.g., materials). Please keep records of your income and expenses, as well as receipts and other supporting documents.
If you have any questions about tax filing or deductible expenses, please contact the tax office yourself.
